So you’re ready to throw some darts? Whether you’re looking to hone your skills for a friendly pub game or simply enjoy a relaxing pastime at home, having the right equipment is important. This guide will walk you through the essential items needed to set up the perfect darts area for any beginner.
Darts:
Of course, players will need darts to play, but picking the right darts can be tricky. With so many different features to choose from, brass or tungsten, more aggressive grip or less aggressive grip, thick or thin, long or short, heavy or light, we recommend coming into our store and trying the darts out personally to ensure you’re getting exactly what works for you. The Pool Shoppe has over 110 different dart sets in stock, and one of our experts will be happy to assist you.
Blade 6 Dartboard:
While a traditional dartboard uses spider wire and staples to hold the dartboard together, darts can hit these wires and staples and fall to the ground. Over time, these wires and staples come apart from the board, meaning it’s time to buy a new one. The Blade 6 dartboard is a staple-less dartboard with recessed wires, helping to prevent darts from bouncing out and the board from coming apart! The Blade 6 is also built from regenerative sisal, ensuring this dartboard lasts significantly longer than the average board.
If your goal is to improve quickly, consider the Champions Choice Blade 5. It includes the staple-less and recessed wire design of the traditional Blade 6 but has half-sized doubles, triples, and bullseyes to help you grow into a true darts marksman.
Dartboard Surround:
A dartboard surround is the perfect way to display a dartboard professionally and aesthetically! Our Championship Backboard Set includes a large dart surround to protect the wall behind the board that catches darts to prevent them from hitting the floor, storage for your darts and spare accessories, and a scoreboard and dry eraser all in one!
For those who would rather not display the dartboard itself or who don’t have the wall space to fit a surround, we also sell a wide variety of closing dartboard cabinets to provide a more traditional look to your games room! Chalkboard, dry erase, and electronic scoring options are all available, as is a separate dart caddy.
Outchart Dart Mat:
Dart mats are long strips of rubber or carpet underneath the dartboard that serve several purposes. If your darts fall on the ground, the floor beneath and/or the dart can be damaged. A dart mat will protect them both. While there are several mats to choose from, this mat also includes an out chart, which is a quick guide on what a player needs to score to win from various point totals. Dart Mats will also include a throw line to show beginners exactly how far away to stand from the board when throwing!
Corona LED 360 Light:
The final component of the perfect dart setup for a beginner is our 360-degree surround light. With bright, shadowless lights illuminating the dartboard, this light ensures that no matter where in the house you choose to put your dartboard set up, you will have ample lighting to see the board perfectly. Simply attach the light to the side of your board via magnets and plug it into the nearest outlet, and you’re ready to go!
