Tips for a spa not working in below-zero temperatures

I JUST DRAINED MY TUB AND REFILLED it; the pumps will run but it will not heat *

Problem may be an Air Lock. FORCE FEED suction port with garden hose. Wrap a rag around the shaft of the garden hose and hold it against the suction port in the skimmer area. Let the hose run full pressure for 2-3 minutes. This may purge out the air lock. If this does not work, see NO HEAT sections below.

* If the pumps will not run and there is the 4-dash on the display (- – – -) see IF EVER IN DOUBT below to warm the compartment (warm the temperature sensors) and try to start system again after 1-2 hours.

My spa has NO HEAT and pumps are still running /displays are on Error codes – FL1 or FL2 or FLO?

Water level may have dropped; check water level. Top up level if low and see Air Lock instructions above.

Filter may need to be cleaned/changed: Dirty filters = low flow = no heat

Power off spa for 5 minutes to clear memory, remove filter(s) temporarily, power spa back on. Does heat start? If yes purchase new or clean filter(s) If still NO HEAT, call in for a Service Call.

NOTE: A spa with water that is still ‘warm’ and pumps are running should not freeze in 72 hours.

See below IF EVER IN DOUBT.

My spa has NO HEAT and pumps are NOT running /displays are OFF

Perform a RESET. The customer will check the Main breaker in house and Sub-Panel by powering both OFF. Wait 5 minutes. Power the Main breaker ON. Power the Sub-Panel ON.

If this does not start the system you will require a Spa Technician to confirm the problem is not with the equipment or an Electrician to confirm there is not a problem with the power supply.

Follow the instructions IF EVER IN DOUBT.

My tub is LEAKING

If the tub is losing only about 1” per day, keep topping up the spa to keep it running and heating. If the leak is too great, control the drain of the tub by draining it as you normally would to keep the freezing water away from the spa area and be prepared to ‘winterize’ the spa as per the Owner’s Instructions Manual or refer to IF EVER IN DOUBT below and call our Service Department for a proper Winterize Spa Service.

IF EVER IN DOUBT

Place a micro-furnace OR hair-dryer on ‘low’ in the equipment compartment plugging it in to a GFCI receptacle for safety.

Be careful that the heater or hair-dryer does not touch any of the pipes or pumps. Replace the skirt panel or tarp the area to contain the heat until a Service Technician is scheduled for service.
