As a board game enthusiast, I’m always on the lookout for new and exciting games to try. When I first encountered Double Series, it immediately caught my eye.
Double Series shares some similarities with Dice Poker, particularly in its endgame objective. Instead of rolling dice, however, players use playing cards. The game includes 50 blue chips, 50 green chips, and the game board itself. You’ll need to provide two decks of standard playing cards to play.
The game can accommodate 2-10 players, divided evenly into two teams. The number of cards dealt to each player varies depending on the total number of players.
The idea of the game is very simple. The goal is to is to be the first player or team to score 2 series of 5 chips of the same colour, either vertically, horizontally or diagonally. Starting with the player left from the dealer, they place a card from their hand in front of them, and then place their coloured chip on the corresponding card on the board. From there, alternating teams go clockwise around the board.
What is interesting about the game is that players on the same team cannot communicate, hint, or sign to each other to influence their moves. Meaning you really have to read each other’s minds. I think it’s a cool concept.
I love Double Series. It’s easy to learn, the gameplay is dynamic and anything can happen! It’s the perfect addition for family/friend game nights. It’s the perfect blend of competitiveness and camaraderie, where relationships won’t get broken.
