Proper pH balance is an essential part of spa and hot tub maintenance. The recommended range is between 7.2 – 7.6. If the pH of your spa or hot tub is high (above 7.6), the water will be alkaline and the chlorine is prevented from doing its job. This phenomenon is usually detected by a strong chlorine odour not found when the pH is in balance. The water tends to be cloudy and eye irritation may develop. Scale build-up may also begin to occur.
Directions:Â One capful of pH Reducer holds approximately 30 gms. Test water frequently for pH and bromine/chlorine. Broadcast pH Reducer over the water according to the table below:
After adding pH Reducer, let water circulate for 1 hour before entering hot tub.
pH Reading | Amount of pH Reducer Required per 1000L |
---|---|
7.8 – 8.0 | 30 gms |
8.1 + | 60 gms |
