Why punch a dart flight?
Punching a flight is recommended for players who play very frequently or for long periods. You don’t need to adjust your flights often, as the rings embedded in the flight help to keep the flight secured onto the shaft at that perfect 90º angle to give you consistent throws every time. The flight rings also increase the lifespan of your nylon shafts by helping to prevent ‘Robin Hoods’ from damaging your shafts.
When do you punch your flights?
- When using nylon shafts
- When your flights keep popping off the shaft
When do you not punch your flights?
- When using aluminum or metal shafts

How to punch your dart flights
Flatten your dart and insert it into the flight punch. Ensure your flight is flush with the punch grooves to align the punched hole with the stem. Misplaced punches will lower the efficacy of your flights and can cause your flight trajectory not to be consistent.
Once your flight is punched, grab your nylon shaft and remove the ring from the top.
Insert the shaft ring into the flattened flight.
Open the flight and insert it onto the shaft. The shaft ring may need to be slid down onto the shaft for a perfect fit.
When done, your flight will be attached to the shaft with the shaft ring embedded into the flight.
